Sizing Chart
So what is Petite?
Standard women's sizes are generally designed for the proportions of someone 5'6" or 165cm. Petite sizing caters for women who are shorter than this.
There are different types of petites.
Small in stature and in size - You often find the best fit in children's sizes? If you are in this category, Pocket Diva brings you 'adult' clothes such as silk dresses, and tailored suits. Currently we have a good range of Aus6/US4 and are looking to expand into smaller sizes subject to demand.
Just not so tall - For other petites it is just about height. Many petites will simply find standard sizes long in the hem or sleeves. Other petites have a proportionately smaller torso. These petites find extra length is pushed upwards on waisted dresses, causing bulging backs or dangerously low necklines. For you we have sizes up to Aus 14.
Most items sold under the Ratio label have been selected from other labels and manufactured for us with a shorter hem. These are standard size garments suitable for standard fit and smaller proportioned petites alike. They will fit your tall sisters too, if they like it short!
Some fitted Ratio styles labelled 'True Petite' are designed to have both a shorter overall length and a proportionately shorter should to waist length.
Take Your Measurements
You will need a cloth tape measure and a full length mirror. It will help to have a friend assist. Take measurements undressed or in lightweight clothes. Stand tall and pull the tape measure taught, but not too tight.
Bust- Measure around the shoulder blades, under the armpits and over the fullest part of the bust.
Waist- Find your natural waistline and measure.
Hip- Measure the fullest part of the hip.
Length from Neck - Measure from your collarbone (this is when you need the friend so you can stand straight)
Length from Waist - Put your hands on your hips and measure from there. Some styles suit a different length, but we generally aim for a length of 51cm/20" sitting just above the knee.
Inseam - Stand up straight with legs slightly apart or take a pair of jeans and fold them in half. Measure from just below the crotch to the bottom of the ankle, hem of the pant, or desired length. Remember, too long is better than too short.
